The northern lights create an eerily beautiful display of colors in the northern skys over Vermont in the early hours of Saturday morning. In this photo, taken on Last Road in Cabot, far from the light polution of the states more urban areas, the colors were particularly striking. The Aurora Borealis, or, nothern lights, occur when charged particles ejected from the sun collide with the Earth's magnetic field releasing energy and create the spectacular natural light show.
