With his eyes carefully closed to avoid injury from stray sparks or flying cinders, Jeff Monder of Ticonderoga New York, carefully coaxes a fire from a tiny pile of shavings. Monder is a member of Benjamin Whitcomb's Rangers, a group dedicated to "authentic portrayal of an actual Continental Army Ranger unit during the American Revolution". The group was one of several who turned out for this year's Vermont History Expo in Tunbridge.
